Some people put off coming to Christ, thinking that they will be losing out on the pleasures of life. Quite the opposite is true. When you let Christ free you from sin, life becomes full and meaningful.
Our guest blogger, John Rataczak, explores the blessings that we experience when we come to Jesus and invite Him to take over our lives.
SOME OF THE BLESSINGS OF SALVATION
“But without faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that cometh to God must
believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him
(Hebrews 11:6).
We live in a day in which it seems that “bad news” hits us often. News programs
are generally filled with stories about murder, robbery, fires, natural disasters, and
bewildering economic news.
It seems that the political personalities and policies are unable to bring us much
other than negative results, and sometimes believers wonder if there is any really good
news for them!
Sometimes it seems we have nothing good to believe in.
The word “Gospel” means good news! Here are some important truths about
salvation that can be beneficial to us in “this present evil age!”
1. Do you ever feel you lack the grace to serve others?
He has given you the fruit of the Spirit!
2. Do you ever feel God is angry at you?
The blood of Christ has propitiated that anger!
3. Do you ever feel you are not close to God?
You have been reconciled to Him!
4. Do you ever feel your sin is so horrible that God will always hold it against you?
Your sins are forgiven and forgotten!
5. Do you ever feel Satan might steal your salvation?
God has sealed your salvation and has made promises about it which He cannot
break!
6. Do you ever feel that you have no right to be happy in this life?
God has provided you with liberty!
7. Do you ever feel that you cannot win when temptation comes?
God has provided you with all the armor you need!
8. Do you ever feel that life isn’t really all that exciting?
You have ultimate sanctification and glorification in heaven forever!
9. Do you ever feel you don’t get what you deserve?
You will receive rewards in heaven for faithfulness!
10. Do you ever feel powerless to make a difference?
You will reign with Christ!
The salvation that we enjoy in Christ is a finished work and offers us blessings
both now and forever! Yes, the world offers us bad news every day, but God’s Word
and salvation offer these great blessings and many others!
“If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed” (John 8:36).

Seeing those huge doors of the lock slam shut behind us was a bit scary. There was no way out. We had to sit and trust that the captain and those who operated the lock knew what they were doing.
Jeremiah suffered intensely. He was whipped, thrown in a dungeon. mocked, called a liar, and thrown into a deep muddy pit. He was accused of conspiring with the nation’s attackers, the Babylonians, as well. An angry mob almost killed him.
Mark Rutland, in his book Nevertheless, shows how the simple Word, “nevertheless” holds a key to victory in the difficulties of life. This short book contains some excellent devotions.
I saw the batter spreading out over the hot griddle. It started to sizzle, firming up, with little bubbles showing on top. It had to be flipped so that the other other side could cook. If it had been left there too long, it would have burned. Am I sizzling or burning?
