Think About God’s Faithfulness this Mother’s Day
by Karen S. Roberts
I remember God’s faithfulness…
I’m a mother and grandmother. Today on Mother’s Day, I look back over many years and can see that God is always faithful. Sure, there have been difficult times during my life. But through every difficulty, God has provided the strength, wisdom, faith, and provision that my husband and I have needed.
We have also watched His faithfulness in the lives of our children. So many times when they faced struggles in life, we prayed and committed them and their situations to God. They have grown in their relationship with Jesus through those struggles, just as we have.
My Mother and Father’s Example
I remember how my mother and father walked with the Lord. They faced hard circumstances at times. Both of them modeled positive faith-filled attitudes and the commitment to keep on praying, believing, and serving God, no matter what. I feel so blessed by this spiritual heritage.
Make today a special Mother’s Day for yourself.
I realize that many who are reading this did not grow up with a strong Christian heritage as I did. Maybe even now you aren’t sure that Jesus will meet your needs. Make today a special Mother’s Day – the day that you make or renew your commitment to follow Jesus Christ and to seek Him with all of your heart. Allow Him to work faith into your life as you read His Word and pray. You will then see more and more of God’s loving care for you and your family.
Even though my husband grew up with the same type of Christian heritage that I did, he did not yield his life to Jesus until he was in his early 30s. His life was falling apart in many ways. While at a church service on Mother’s Day, he turned to God, asking for forgiveness, inviting Jesus to take over his life. That was a day of rejoicing for his parents. What a wonderful gift for his mother to see the answer to her prayers for him.
You can come to know Jesus today also.
Be Thankful
Today on this special day, I look back in awe and thankfulness as I see the goodness, love, and mercy that the Lord has poured out on us. When we seek Him, know Him, trust Him, and commit ourselves and our family to Him, we see Him work in amazing ways.
Besides giving thanks today to your Mom or to a woman who has nurtured you spiritually, take time today to give thanks to God for His goodness. Your thanksgiving will open up more goodness, flowing from on high.
Great Is Thy Faithfulness
The hymn, “Great is Thy Faithfulness,” is a reminder of how the Lord is ever faithful to His followers.
Great is Thy faithfulness, Oh God my Father,
There is no shadow of turning with Thee;
Thou changest not, Thy compassions they fail not.
As Thou hast been Thou forever wilt be.
Great is Thy faithfulness! Great is Thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see;
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided.
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!
This hymn is based upon Lamentations 3:22-23
It is of the Lord‘s mercies that we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is Thy faithfulness.
Although Jeremiah was deeply saddened by the evil happening in His nation, He shared these words, knowing that even though leaders in his nation had turned away from God, He knew that God’s mercy, compassion, and faithfulness would not fail.

“I Will Sing of the Goodness of God”
A song that has been ministering to me lately is “I Will Sing of the Goodness of God.” It moves me to remember all the goodness He has shown to me. Lift your voice in praise as you sing along with this video.
I love the part of this song that says, “All my life you have been faithful; all my life you have been so, so good…”
Happy Mother’s Day!
