Are tongues wagging about you?

False Accusations – How to Handle Them

Spiritual Attacks of False AccusationsAre tongues wagging about you?

Have you noticed unexpected things lately, such as conflicts, unexpected opposition, relationships breaking down for no reason, betrayal, rejection, or people speaking against you? These are signs that false accusations the spiritual realm have been activated against you.

In Revelation 12:10, Satan is called “the accuser of our brethren.”  He is a deceiver who brings thoughts and words against followers of Jesus.  His false accusations can lead people to believe them and speak against us. The sad thing is that sometimes even a Christian brother or sister will believe his lies and accuse us.

There is good news! In the same realm in which curses and accusations are spoken, God’s Word breaks them. Today, you can fight a spiritual battle by praying God’s Word into your situation. By pressing through the spiritual battle, you can experience God’s love and victory.

Warning:
However, unless you have committed your life to Jesus Christ, have made Him Lord of your life, and are obeying Him, read no further.  You cannot fight spiritual battles in your own power.  Also, if you are holding onto unforgiveness, take care of that first. (For more on this subject, read Victory Over the Darkness by Neil T. Anderson.)

How To Do Spiritual Battle in Prayer

Heaven will handle these battles as you fight by praying Scripture out loud, using the authority you have in Christ. Keep in mind that you are not praying against people, but against the demonic powers that influence people to believe lies and speak against you. (See Ephesians 6:21.)

Spend time drawing near to God before you begin warfare prayer and making Scriptural declarations. Ask Him to show you if there is unforgiveness or any other sin that you need to repent of before you begin this warfare battle. (See James 4:7)

Bless Those Who Have Hurt You

Jesus said in Matthew 5:44, “Love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you.”

This applies to the people who have hurt you with their words. Pray prayers of blessing over them. The Bible has many verses of blessing you can use.  For instance, today I prayed many verses from Psalm 107 as blessings over a friend who has rejected and accused me.

But it is equally important to use Scripture to battle the demonic forces that put thoughts and misconceptions into people’s minds to influence them to speak against you and turn away from you.  The following prayers and declarations can help you do that.

A Preparation Prayer of Spiritual Warfare Against False Accusations

First, pray Isaiah 54:17, declaring this out loud:

“No weapon formed against me shall prosper, and every tongue that rises against me in judgment, I condemn.”

Declare this forcefully every time you begin declaring victory over the demonic powers that caused false accusations against you to influence people. Let your faith arise, knowing that God has given you authority over the enemy.  We must understand that the enemy operates through words, through curses, lies, gossip, and accusations. He is a great deceiver.

But God has given you a weapon more powerful than any curse: His Word!

Presenting Your Case in the Court of Heaven

First, enter God’s presence with thanksgiving and praise.  That takes you into His courts. (See Psalm 100:4)

Psalm 109:1-5 is an example of bringing your case to God and laying out the attack that came against you. Speak these words to Him, believing that He is listening and responding:
Do not keep silent,
O God of my praise!
For the mouth of the wicked and the mouth of the deceitful
Have opened against me;
They have spoken against me with a lying tongue.
They have also surrounded me with words of hatred,
And fought against me without a cause.
In return for my love, they are my accusers.
But I give myself to prayer.
Thus they have rewarded me evil for good,
And hatred for my love.

Are you feeling the weight of a situation like that?  I have.  Through spiritual battle, I have found comfort, love, and joy in the Presence of God, even in these situations. You can too!

David, who wrote these words, wasn’t fighting people. He was fighting invisible forces that use people as weapons. You may be experiencing the same thing: betrayal from those you helped, rejection from those you love, resistance that makes no sense. But God sees it all.

Notice David’s response: “I give myself to prayer.”  He went to prayer because prayer is our battle plan.

Pray these words: “God, I won’t fight in the flesh. I place this battle in Your hands. You speak for me. You defend me.”

The moment you surrender the fight to God, Heaven takes over. You are entering God’s courtroom to present your case before the Judge of all the Earth. He will defend you. He will silence every false witness, and He will reverse every curse spoken over you.

Words You Can Use to Do Battle

Continue praying and declaring out loud, for there is power in speaking words that render the enemy powerless.

“Lord, I bring my enemies before your throne. I refuse to let demonic curses remain active. I break the power of every word of hatred, jealousy, or manipulation; I break its power in the name of Jesus Christ. I cancel every curse. I silence every enemy. I reverse every demonic decree.  I am covered by the blood of Christ.”

By the power of your position of authority in Christ, you are protected as you stand in faith and declare this.  (See what Jesus says about the authority of His followers in Luke 10:19.) The blood of Jesus speaks louder than every accusation, and his blood will cover you.

After making your declaration, you can follow up with a prayer that incorporates Scripture.  Here is an example:

“Lord, I present myself to You in Your court of Heaven.  I forgive the people who have hurt me, and I entrust them to You. My struggle is not against flesh and blood.

I submit myself to You. In the name of Jesus Christ, I resist the devil and reject his lies, accusations, and attempts to draw me away from Your truth.

Jesus, You have disarmed the powers and authorities through Your cross. I stand in Your victory, clothed in the armor of God. My confidence is in Your blood, Your Word, and Your faithfulness—not in the force of my own words.

Guard my family, my home, my work, and my future. Defeat every evil purpose directed against me and help me remain faithful to You. No accusation can overturn Your justification, and no spiritual power can separate me from Your love.  In Jesus’ name, amen.”

What Happens When You Pray with Authority in Christ?

As you speak these words, every evil word raised against you will lose power. The demonic voices behind the accusations will be silenced, because when the righteous speak with the authority God has given them, Heaven responds.

Let’s seal this with a prophetic declaration. Repeat this with faith: “I declare that no curse will settle in my life. Every generational curse is broken, every spoken curse is canceled, every witchcraft assignment is destroyed, and every hidden enemy is exposed and silenced by the authority of Jesus Christ.”

After praying, you may feel something shifting inside you, warmth, lightness, joy, or even tears. That’s the Holy Spirit cleansing your atmosphere. For a time, you may have to fight these battles day after day.  But eventually you will see the changes God makes.

I find that before or after praying spiritual warfare prayers, listening to worship music, singing along, and drawing close to God in worship brings a wonderful sense of peace and God’s presence.  Worship is also a form of warfare.

It is helpful to seek out solid Christian friends who will pray with you when you go through spiritual attacks. It will help you come into freedom more quickly.

Curses Become Powerless

Years ago, when I was ministering to a troubled teen, her friend, who practiced witchcraft, put a spell on me. She was trying to cause me to have a car accident.  I didn’t know about this until some time later.  The teen told me about the curse and said the witch couldn’t understand why it didn’t work.  I explained that I was covered by the blood of Jesus.

At that time, I didn’t know much about spiritual warfare, but I did spend time reading the Word of God, praying, walking with Jesus, and trying to help troubled teenagers. When I learned of the curse, I did not fear.  I knew God would continue to protect me.

He will protect you too!  Keep close to God. Every hidden curse, every dark intention, and every invisible weapon formed against you has begun to crumble. Keep praying and declaring God’s truth!

The lies spoken about you will dissolve in truth. The spiritual arrows aimed at your destiny will lose their power before they touch you, because God is your Defender, and His justice never fails.

Reflect on This Scripture

Colossians 2:14–15 shows us that Christ canceled the debt that stood against us and “disarmed the powers and authorities,” triumphing over them through the cross.

The foundation of spiritual battle is His victory, not our own independent power. Base your spiritual battles on this great truth:  Jesus has already won the victory!
