Paul the Apostle’s Life Journey

Before we jump into the inspiration, let’s set the stage by highlighting the incredible journey of Paul the apostle. He started out as Saul, a devout Pharisee who persecuted Christians.  But his unexpected encounter with Jesus Christ led to becoming a follower of Jesus.  Paul’s life took a drastic turn. He dedicated the rest of His life to an unwavering commitment to spread the Gospel.  This led him to face countless challenges, including persecution, attempts on his life, imprisonments, struggles, and even shipwreck.  His life ended as a martyr, killed for his faith and witness for Christ.

Embracing Perseverance During Difficult Challenges

One of the most inspiring aspects of Paul’s life was his ability to persevere and overcome through challenges, trials and tribulations. Despite facing constant opposition, he never wavered in his faith and continuously relied on God’s strength in the face of adversity.

The epistles he wrote give us soaring words of encouragement, powerful testimonies of endurance, practical instructions on how to live the Christian life, prophecies of the end times, and an understanding of who Jesus is. Paul’s letters have served as a source of inspiration for believers across the ages.  Remember, he had to write by hand or have a scribe work with him to write these words with ink on parchment.  If mistakes were made, it meant going back and writing again, for the ink couldn’t be erased.  It was a long, tedious process.

He endured through it all.  His attitude toward his suffering is reflected by what he wrote in 2 Corinthians 6:4 – 10:
Rather, as servants of God we commend ourselves in every way: in great endurance; in troubles, hardships and distresses;  in beatings, imprisonments and riots; in hard work, sleepless nights and hunger; in purity, understanding, patience and kindness; in the Holy Spirit and in sincere love; in truthful speech and in the power of God; with weapons of righteousness in the right hand and in the left; through glory and dishonor, bad report and good report; genuine, yet regarded as impostors; known, yet regarded as unknown; dying, and yet we live on; beaten, and yet not killed; sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; poor, yet making many rich; having nothing, and yet possessing everything. Wow!  It is hard to imagine living through all that Paul went through.  Only through God’s power could he keep such a godly attitude.
